Baaaad Roses!

Image
So last night as the last class of the Wilton Course One and lets just say...It was not a good one for me! First, I left my cake out in the car all day before hand which happened to be the hottest day of the year thus far, so my cake is basically twice bakes and the frosting all melted. Then I had a difficult time making the roses...they are not my forte at all. I think the gal who teaches the class spend the majority of the class with me becuase I was soooooo bad at making the roses. I am pretty sure she does not want me as a student any longer. Lucky her, Course II starts next week. Wahoo for her! Then after the class on the way home, I made a turn and the cake fell over. That is sad. So that is why it looks so bad...and I am so very sad. I will never make a rose cake!

Weekend Fun!

Image
What a great weekend...the weather was semi-warm (wind) and Jake and I sure kept busy. Saturday we worked out in the yard much of the day which is so nice. I appreciate it now, but after a full summer's worth of yard work, might not be so much fun! Then dinner with the family. My parents took the family out for dinner to the Sandpiper. It is still too cold to sit outside, however, we were right by a window so we could see the river and kites and all the things going on outside. It was so nice to go out with the whole family (minus the kids for this trip). I love laughing and that is something that happens quite often when we all get together. I wish we could go out together every night...family is such a great thing and I have the BEST one ever. Then Sunday, Jake and I spent the day at my mom's house making invitations for Angie's Baby Shower. Here are some of the ones I made...again just like cake decorating may not be my calling, card making is not so much either,

CUPCAKES!

Image
Okay so this Tuesday's class, we created cupcakes which was a lot of fun becuase I got to practice on lots of little ones and if I messed up, I did not mess up a whole cake, but just a little cupcake. They actually turned out pretty cute I think. They were a lot of fun. We made bears, clowns, babies, people, grass, flowers, etc. The little babies in the carriage are my favorite and actually they are not that difficult to make which is great. Next week is my last class..then hopefully I can continue with course 2 if my schedule will allow. That would be great! Anyone up for it??? So much fun!

Icing on the Cake!

Image
Here is my cake from my first decorating class...lets just say, mine would not have one a prize if we were being judged on our cake production; however, I did not think I was going to even be able to complete this cake. I think it turned out good for MY first one...I now know this is not my calling in life...but I love it anyway. So DARN IDAHO...I was in my class last night...and come out at 8:45 to find my car covered in snow and the wind blowing like crazy, snow flying in my face. My sisters and I were going to my mom's just down the street to show her our wonderful artistry, but my gas light was on so I made a quick stop in the blizzzzard to get some gas. Then to my suprise...my car would not start...it is only an 2006 so not that old. I could have screamed. So here I am stuck in the snowy blizard at a gas pump on 17th with a dead battery or something. Both Jake and my dad were working at this time so I had to pull my dad out of work...bless his heart...to come rescue me.

Update

This Jenny...is for you. My puppy update. Here is the long-awaited picture of my poor Henley. He is now bald due to some terrible mats that I just could not get out, plus he bites me a lot and hard whenever I brush him...he is getting a little crabby in his older age. He does not look like my little Henley any longer, but I still love him. I can't wait until his hair grows back even a little. Shelby and Halley are pictured together and rarely seen apart...Halley still has a cough that will not go away even with antibiotics so I think we have to take her in for an x-ray. Harley is also beginning the cough which has me a bit stressed out these days. I go to the vet at least once a week it seems like. I would just like to get them all healthy and ready for spring/summer. For all of you who have sick children...it is the same for me. My puppies are my children and I hate having them sick and not knowing what is wrong. Well at least now I have made some good friends o

Happy 1st Birthday Cooper John Cammack

Image
Yesterday, Cooper's mom put a great little party together for Cooper's first birthday. He is getting so big...he just started walking and has taken off. He is such a cutie and really enjoyed his cake...but who wouldn't. Lisa and Angie did a nice job putting together all the final touches for the party. All who came enjoyed the company and lunch and the birthday...especially big sister who got to open up most of the presents. HAPPY BIRTHDAY COOPER!!!

Remembering Martin Luther King, Jr.

Image
Martin Luther King, Jr., (January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968) Its funny sometimes how great I think my challenges in life are when really, they are but mere trivial daily challenges easily overcome. Today more than others, it was put in perspective with the memory of Martin Luther King, Jr. who was assassinated 40 years ago today. "At the age of thirty-five, Martin Luther King, Jr., was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize. When notified of his selection, he announced that he would turn over the prize money of $54,123 to the furtherance of the civil rights movement. On the evening of April 4, 1968, while standing on the balcony of his motel room in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was to lead a protest march in sympathy with striking garbage workers of that city, he was assassinated." When asked the elusive question in school and different conversations, "If you could meet someone from the past, who would it be?" Altough there are numerous people I wou
